How it all started: a hospital room, a rolling cart, and a promise

Adrian Vasquez, founder of Game Glide, assembling the first GameGlide Station

Every company has a founding story. Ours starts in a hospital room at three in the morning.

My wife was in labor with our first child — our daughter. I was bedside, doing the only job a husband has in that room: being there. Hours blur in a place like that. You count contractions, you hold a hand, you watch the door.

And through that door, all night long, came the nurses — each one gliding in behind a rolling workstation. Monitor, computer, everything they needed, moving as one piece. They'd roll it right up to the bedside, lock the wheels, do their work, unlock, and glide out. In a room where everything else stood still, those carts moved like they belonged everywhere.

I used to stream. Before the military schedule, before marriage, before the beautiful chaos of becoming a dad, gaming was my decompression — my hour that belonged to nobody else. And sitting in that hospital room, holding my wife's hand, somewhere between fear and the purest joy I've ever felt, a quiet thought landed: I don't want to give that hour up. I want to carry it with me.

Not instead of being a father. Not instead of being a husband, or showing up for duty. Alongside all of it.

The idea that followed us home

When we brought our daughter home, the math of my life changed overnight — the way it does for every new parent. Free time stopped being a block of hours and became stolen minutes: while she napped on my chest, after the bottles were washed, between a shift and a bedtime. My gaming setup, bolted to a desk in a back room, might as well have been in another zip code.

I kept thinking about those nurses. Their whole workstation went wherever the work was. Why couldn't my whole setup go wherever my life was?

So I built it. A steel cart on four locking casters, a monitor arm, a dock for the console, one cable to the wall. Height that drops to couch level when the baby's asleep on me and rises to standing when I've got twenty minutes and a ranked queue. The living room while my wife watches her show next to me. The nursery doorway, volume low, while our daughter sleeps. Rolled into the closet when family life needs the floor back.

That cart became the GameGlide Station.

What it's really for

People ask what GameGlide is. The honest answer: it's for everyone whose life got fuller and who refuses to believe that means their hour has to disappear. The new parents. The partners sharing one TV. The ones serving, working shifts, squeezing joy into the margins — without leaving the people they love in another room to find it.

My daughter won't remember the hospital room, or the rolling carts, or the tired man in the chair having the idea of his life. But she'll grow up in a house where Dad never had to choose between being present and being himself.

That's how it all started.
